First Serve

First Serve

When you start to play a game of tennis one of the players has to start the game. The player who starts the game has to place the ball diagonally in the opposite court. This is called a serve.

There is not much difference in the first and the second serve. The player has to put the ball in the opposite court without touching the net and within the side lines. If he fails to do that then the serve is not considered as a legal one. It is called a fault. The player gets another chance to serve. But unfortunately if the player misses his serve again then it is called a double fault and the opponent gets the point.

There are different types of serves. The player can use the flat serve, the topspin serve, the slice serve, the twist serve and the topspin slice serve. The player can use any of these options as his first serve. If he makes a fault then normally he uses a conventional serve as his second one.

The player tries to hit his first serve with maximum power and skill.

He tries to win the point from his first serve by sheer force and skill that it lands on the other side in such a way that it is unplayable by the opponent. If he wins a point from his first serve it is called ace.
