Introduction

The Tennis Grand Slam tournament are the four most prestigious tennis tournaments. The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open are the four Grand Slam tournaments. Held every year, they are characterized by participation from almost every top player and by their two-week duration, 128-player draw in men's and women's singles, and best-of-five-sets format for men. A singles player or doubles team that wins all four Grand Slam tournaments in the same year is said to have achieved the Grand Slam.

 
Australian Open

The Australian Open is the first of the world's four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, held each January at Melbourne Park, since 1905. This tournament comprises of men's and women's singles competitions, men's, women's and mixed doubles events. The two main courts that are used in this tournament are Rod Laver Arena and Vodafone Arena.

French Open or Rolland Garros

The French Open or Roland Garros is a tennis tournament held over two weeks between mid-May and early June in Paris, France. It is the second of the Grand Slam Tennis tournaments on the annual tennis calendar and is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world. The French Open began as a national tournament in 1891. The events played are men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon Tennis is the third Grand Slam Tennis event played each year, held in June and July at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England. The tournament lasts for two weeks and is the only Grand Slam Tennis event currently played on a grass surface. Other tournaments are simultaneously held at the same venue - Gentlemen's Singles, Ladies' Singles, Gentlemen's Doubles, Ladies' Doubles and Mixed Doubles and Youth tournaments-Boys' Singles, Girls' Singles, Boys' Doubles and Girls' Doubles, the 35 and over Gentlemen's Doubles, 45 and over Gentlemen's Doubles, 35 and over Ladies' Doubles and wheelchair doubles are also held.

U.S. Open

The US Open Tennis Tournament is the fourth and final event of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. It is held annually in August and September over a two week period. The main tournament consists of five championships - men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles, with additional tournaments for senior, junior, and wheelchair players. The U.S. Open is different from the others that there are final set tie breaks.
