Prizes At the French Open Tennis Tournament

Introduction

The French Open is the second Grand Slam Event that is held in a year. It is officially known as the Tournoi de Roland Garros or the Roland Garros tournament which is held during the period between mid May and early June. It is the only Grand Slam Event that features clay courts to hold the various events that are featured in this tournament. This tournament is named after a hero of World War I named Roland Garros who was a pilot. The French Open at its earlier stages was only a national tournament but from 1925 it became open to international competitors. The events of this tournament are generally held at the Court Philippe Chatrier which is built with red Clay.

These clay courts tend to slow down the ball pace and also give an extra bounce to the balls. Thus, the strategy of the game changes which provides a great challenge to the players. There are certain Prizes at the French Open Tennis Tournament that are awarded to the winning players.

Prizes at Wimbledon

Unlike the prizes that are given to the players in the Australian Open a different mode is used in this tournament to award the champions or the winners of the titles. Here a certain amount of money is given to the winners which are also known as the prize money. However there were certain disparities in the amount that was given to the men winners and the Women winners. So there had been a lot of efforts that were instituted so as to equal the amount. With regards to this the French Open was the last Grand Slam Event that made this change. In the year 2007 it announced that the prize money for both the men and Women will be equal. Moreover it also announced that from this year onwards the prize money for both the winners will be 1,000,000 Euros which is the largest winners check ever given in this sport of tennis.

The Prizes at the French Open Tennis Tournament after being equal have encouraged both the players a lot.
