The 1984 French Open Tennis Tournament

Introduction

The French Open was officially known as the Tournoi de Roland Garros which is known as the Ronald Garros Tournament. This tournament is held over two weeks between mid May and early June in Paris, France. It is the second Grand Slam that is held in a year. The tournament which is referred to as French Open is named after a World War I pilot. Until 1891 French Open was a national tournament. However after 1925 it opened itself to international competitors.

It is the only Grand Slam event that has clay courts. These courts give a great challenge to the participants as the clay courts tend to slow down the ball and produce a high bounce. The 1984 French Open Tennis Tournament was one of the tournaments that were held in these clay courts.
