Ukraine at the 2003 Fed Cup

Ukraine first began participating in the fed cup since the year 1993. Previously before the year 1993 Ukraine participated under the Soviet Union. Ukraine has till date has never won the fed cup final or even reached the final. They have reached the world group play offs in the year in the year 2002 which they lost.

The players of Ukraine at the 2003 Fed Cup were Yuliya Beygelzimer, Tatiana Perebiynis, Elena Tatarkova, Svitlana Medvedeva and Anna Zaporozhanova.

Ukraine at the 2003 Fed Cup played all their matches at Portugal on the red clay outdoors.

The first Round Robin match that Ukraine played was against Denmark, where Denmark humiliated Ukraine with the winning score of 2-1.

Ukraine won against Romania with score line claiming a score of 2-1 in the second set of Round Robin matches.

In the third set of Round Robin matches Ukraine was against South Africa. Ukraine defeated the South Africa by a score of 2-1 on 25th, April.

The fourth set was of Europe/Africa Zone Group I Playoffs between Ukraine and Hungary. In the first match, Y.Beygelzimer of Ukraine defeated M.Czink of Hungary by 6-2 and 7-6(5).

In the second match, P.Mandula of Hungary defeated T.Perebiynis of Ukraine in sets of 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2. In the doubles match, P.Mandula and Z.Gubacsi of Hungary defeated Y.Beygelzimer and T.Perebiynis of Ukraine by 1-6, 6-1 and 6-3. Thus, Hungary defeated Ukraine by 2-1 in this set.
