Thailand at the 2003 Fed Cup

Thailand made its debut at the Fed Cup in the year 1976 Fed Cup. The players of Thailand at the 2003 Fed Cup were Suchanun Viratprasert, Tamarine Tanasugarn, Napaporn Tongsalee, Prariyawan Ratanakrong and Panomkorn Pladchurnil.

Thailand at the 2003 Fed Cup was placed in the Group I of the Asia/Oceania zone. In the first Round Robin match against Uzbekistan, Thailand won the contest by a close margin of 2-1.

Next, Thailand was again the looser against Malaysia by score of 3-0 in the second Round Robin match.

The fifth Round Robin match was played on 25th April against Chinese Taipei. In this set of matches, Chinese Taipei defeated Thailand by 2-1.

On 26th, April Thailand played the Asia/Oceania Zone Group I Playoffs against Japan. In the first match, S.Asagoe of Japan defeated S.Viratprasert of Thailand by 1-6, 6-0 and 6-4.

In the second match, A.Sugiyama of Japan defeated T.Tanasugarn by 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4. In the doubles match, R.Fujiwara and S.Obata of Japan defeated P.Ratanakrong and N.Tongsalee of Thailand in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-4. Thus, Japan defeated Thailand by a score of 3-0 in the Playoffs.
