Poland at the 2003 Fed Cup

Poland made its first appearance in these tournaments in the year 1966. During the year 1992, Poland advanced to the quarterfinals round in the Fed cup tournaments and they were defeated by the Germany with a score of 3-0.Poland advanced to the World Group II play off in the year 1988 but it was unlucky as it lost to Austria with a score of 5-0.

Poland at the 2003 Fed cup played the round robins at the clay courts of Portugal. They were placed under the group Europe/Africa Group I D. The players were Joanna Sakowicz, Anna Zarska, Marta Domachowska, Katarzyna Teodorowicz-Lisowska and Klaudia Jans.

In the second match, P.Mandula of Hungary defeated J.Sakowicz of Poland in sets of 6-3 and 6-1. In the doubles match, P.Mandula and Z.Gubacsi of Hungary defeated J.Sakowicz and M.Domachowska of Poland in straight sets of 6-2 and 6-2. Thus, Hungary defeated Poland by a score of 2-1 in this set.
