Morocco at the 2003 Fed Cup

Morocco at the 2003 Fed Cup took part in the Fed Cup for the first time in 1966. In 1999, the country was undefeated. So, it got promotion to Group I of the Europe / Africa Zone for the first time. In 2000, it was relegated to Group II. The players of Morocco were Meryem El Haddad, Bahia Mouhtassine, Mouna Sabri, Habiba Ifrakh and Amine Ghissassi.

Morocco at the 2003 Fed Cup took part in Group II of the Europe / Africa Zone. Morocco played two Round Robin matches. For both the matches, the host was Portugal and the surface was Clay – Outdoor.

On 30th, April Morocco played the first set of Round Robin matches against Malta. In this set Morocco defeated Malta by a score of 2-1.

On 1st May Morocco played the second set of Round Robin matches against Lithuania. In the first match, L.Stanciute of Lithuania defeated H.Ifrakh by 7-5 and 6-3. In the second match, B.Mouhtassine of Morocco defeated E.Liachoviciute of Lithuania in sets of 6-1, 7-6(2). In the doubles match, E.Liachoviciute and L.Staciute of Lithuania defeated B.Mouhtassine and H.Ifrakh of Morocco in straight sets of 6-4 and 6-2. Thus, Lithuania defeated Morocco by a score of 2-1.
