Performance of Mexico at the 2003 Fed Cup
Mexico at the 2003 Fed Cup participated in the tournament from American Zone.
They played against Uruguay in the first Round Robin tie. Mexico gave tremendous display of accuracy and speed during their 2-1 victory over Uruguay.
In the second Round Robin tie Mexico scored a 3-0 victory over Bahamas.
The third Round Robin set that Mexico played was against Canada on 25th April. In this set, Canada defeated Mexico by a score of 3-0.
On 26th, April Mexico played the Americas Zone Group I Playoffs against Brazil. In the first match, B.Colosio of Brazil defeated J.Fernandez of Mexico by 6-3 and 7-5. In the M.Alves of Brazil defeated M.Torres-Sandoval of Mexico in sets of 6-2 and 6-3. In the doubles match, J.Fernandez and M.Torres-Sandoval of Mexico was versus M.Alves and B.Colosia of Brazil. This match was not played. Thus, Brazil defeated Mexico by a score of 2-0 in the playoffs.
