Kyrgyzstan at the 2003 Fed Cup

Kyrgyzstan was in the Group II of the Asia/Oceania zone and the team was competing for the first time in the Fed Cup competition. The players of the Kyrgyzstan team used to play from the team of the Soviet Union. The players of Kyrgyzstan at the 2003 Fed Cup were Kunykei Koichumananova, Yulia Klimchenko and Olga Alexeeva.

Kyrgyzstan at the 2003 Fed Cup was in the first year of their participating and had to play in the Round Robin ties. The ties of the team were carried out from 21st April to 23rd April in Japan on the outdoor hard surface.

The first tie of the team was against the team of Pacific Oceania and it should not have been a very difficult task for the team but the Kyrgyzstan team lost their first tie by a very great margin and the score of the team stood at 0-3.

In their second tie the Kyrgyzstan team played against India. Kyrgyzstan team lost the round again by a score of 0-3.

In the third and the last tie, the team played against the team of Philippines, which again defeated the Kyrgyzstan team.. In the first match, F.La’O of Philippines defeated Y.Klimchenko by 6-1 and 6-2.

In the second match, C.Arevalo of Philippines defeated K.Koichumananova in sets of 6-7(3), 6-4 and 6-0. In the doubles match, F.La’O and A.Santos of Philippines defeated O.Alexeeva and Y.Klimchenko in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-0. Kyrgyzstan team lost their final tie also in the same score of 0-3.
