Ireland at the 2003 Fed Cup

Ireland debuted in 1964 Fed Cup. One of the best performances of Ireland was in the year 1972, when they reached at the round of 16. Ireland at the 2003 Fed Cup played from Europe/Africa Zone group I D. The players were Yvonne Doyle, Kelly Liggan, Elsa O’Riain, Owen Casey and Claire Curran.

The third set of Round Robin matches were played on 24th April between Ireland and Netherlands. In the first match, A.Hopmans of Netherlands defeated E.O’Riain of Ireland by 6-2 and 6-2. In the second match, Y.Doyle of Ireland defeated M.Oremans of Netherlands in sets of 6-4, 6-7(2) and 6-2.

In the third match, K.Boogert and M.Oremans of Netherlands defeated E.O’Riain and C.Curran of Ireland by 6-0 and 6-0. Thus, Netherlands defeated Ireland by a score of 2-1.

The Round Robin match that was scheduled on 25th, April between Hungary and Ireland was not played.
