Introduction

Great Britain took part in the Fed Cup for the first time in 1963. The country has taken part in each Fed Cup and is one of the only four countries to achieve this distinction.

Great Britain has reached the final for four times, but has never won the cup. The most recent final was in 1981, when it lost to the United States. The players from Great Britain were Anne Keothavong, Elena Baltacha, Julie Pullin, Jane O’Donoghue and Nick Brown.

Great Britain at the 2003 Fed Cup took part in Group I of the Europe / Africa Zone. Great Britain played four Round Robin matches. For all the matches, the host was Portugal and the surface was Clay – Outdoor.

In the doubles match, M.Oremans and K.Boogert of Netherlands defeated J.Pullin and E.Baltacha of Great Britain in straight sets of 6-3 and 6-4. Great Britain was defeated by Netherlands by a score of 1-2.
