Introduction

France was one of the participants in the first year of the Fed Cup. The 2003 Fed Cup was its 41st tournament and France at the 2003 Fed Cup entered to become the champion.

France won the tournament in 1997 by overcoming the Netherlands with a score line of 4-1 in the World Group I finals. France was never demoted to the zonal groups. The players for France were Amelie Mauresmo, Nathalie Dechy, Guy Forget, Virginie Razzano and Emilie Loit.

In the fourth match, E.Loit of France defeated A.Stevenson of USA in sets of 6-4 and 6-2.

In the doubles match, L.Raymond and M.Navratilova of USA defeated E.Loit and S.Cohen-Aloro of France in straight sets of 6-4 and 6-0.

Thus, France defeated USA by a score of 4-1.
