Egypt at the 2003 Federation Cup

Egypt played in the Fed Cup for the first time in 1986. Till today Egypt has never reached the Europe Africa Zone. In 2001, the round robins were played against Bosnia, Armenia, Lesotho and Kenya. They won the three round robins out of the total four played and it was one of best performances of their team.

The players for Egypt at the 2003 Fed Cup were Amani Khalifa, Yomna Farid, Noha Mohsen, Haidy El Tabakh and Karim Zaher.

Egypt at the 2003 Fed cup played the round robins against Finland, Botswana and Bosnia. On 28th April Egypt played the first set of matches against Finland. In this set, Finland defeated the team from Egypt by a score of 2-1.

Egypt played its second set of matches against Botswana on 30th April. In these matches, it defeated Botswana by 3-0 in this round.

On 1st May Egypt played the third set of Round Robin matches against Bosnia/Herzegovina. H.El Tabakh defeated D.Stojic of Bosnia/Herzegovina by 2-6, 7-6(4) and 6-3 in the first match. In the second, M.Jugic-Salkic of Bosnia/Herzegovina defeated Y.Farid of Egypt in sets of 6-1 and 6-4. In the doubles match, A.Khalifa and Y.Farid of Egypt defeated M.Mesanovic and M.Jugic-Salkic of Bosnia/Herzegovina by 6-2 and 6-4. Thus, Egypt defeated Bosnia/Herzegovina by a score of 2-1.
