Venezuela made its maiden entry in Fed Cup in the year 1984 for the first time. It has played a total of 18 years’ game competing in 72 ties to date. The same was the story when it played against Brazil in the second tie. Brazil defeated Venezuela with the score line 3-0. The third tie was against Uruguay. Venezuela managed to make just winning game from this losing tie. In the next tie against Paraguay too gave the same yield to Venezuela. All these ties were held on hard outdoors court in Mexico from 22 to 26 April 2002.

The performance of Venezuela at the 2002 Federation Cup was too bad. It lost all the four ties in the round robin of America Group 1 pool B. Two among them did not yield a single game point. From the last two games Venezuela managed to eke out one game point each. This poor performance brought it down to the Group 2 level of Americas Zone in the 2003 Fed Cup.
