Uzbekistan at the 2002 Federation Cup

Uzbekistan made its debut in the Fed Cup in the year 2002. It has played for 13 years up to 2006 competing in a total of 54 ties. Akqul Amanmuradova has made the Most Total Wins and Most Doubles Wins. She has been one in the Best Doubles Team. She has played the most number of ties along with Iroda Tulyaganova. The longest tiebreak was played between Valda Ekshibarova/Ivanna Israilova pair and Manisha and Sania Malhotra of India in which India won the match and the tie. Prior to 1993Uzbekistan players played under the Soviet Union Flag. Uzbekistan at the 2002 Federation Cup played in the Asia/Oceania Group 1 pool B.

Uzbekistan at the 2002 Federation Cup played five ties in the Asia/Oceania Group 1 pool B and won two of them. In the first tie Uzbekistan played against Hong Kong China and won the tie with the score line 2-1. Philippines played against Uzbekistan in the second round robin of Asia/Oceania Group 1 pool B. Uzbekistan made 2-1 win in this tie too. The next two ties were against Japan and China P.R. which gave Uzbekistan a total loss. The score line in both of these ties was 0-3. The last tie was against Thailand. In this tie it lost 1-2.

The performance of Uzbekistan at the 2002 Federation Cup was bad. Out of the five ties it played it managed to win just two ties of round robin in the Asia/Oceania Group 1 pool B against Hong Kong China and Philippines. The last three ties were losing ties that included two total losses. But the overall performance of Uzbekistan in 2002 was good enough for it to play from the same Asia/Oceania Group 1 in the 2003 Fed Cup.
