Tunisia at the 2002 Federation Cup

Tunisia made its first appearance in Fed Cup in the year 1992. It has played for 14 years to date and has competed in 54 ties. Selima Sfar has made the Most Total Wins, Most Single Wins, and has been pert of the best doubles team. She is the one who has played the most number of ties and has participated in the Fed Cup for most number of years. It has reached the third in its round robin group in group 2. This is the farthest it has reached to date. It lost all its first nine Fed Cup ties. Tunisia at the 2002 Federation Cup played from Europe /Africa Group 2 pool B round robin.

Tunisia at the 2002 Federation Cup entered from the Europe Africa Zone and played 3 ties from the Europe /Africa Group 2 pool B round robin. In the first tie Denmark came to compete with Tunisia. Denmark proved its strength and defeated Tunisia. Tunisia suffered a total loss with the score 0-3. The second tie was against Lithuania. Lithuania too defeated Tunisia. Tunisia crumbled at the hands of Lithuania 0-3. The same fate repeated for Tunisia in the next tie against Finland too. Finland took advantage of the diminished morale of Tunisia to ground it once again in a tie. This last tie was a Group 2 play off.

The performance of Tunisia at the 2002 Federation Cup was too bad. It lost two round robin ties of Europe /Africa Group 2 pool B round robin and lost the chance to prove its strength in the play off round too. This poor performance ensured its downfall in the ranking of Fed Cup. Tunisia would have to play in the Group 3 of Europe /Africa Group in the Fed Cup of 2003.
