Introduction

Syria made its debut in the Fed Cup in the year 1994 and has competed for 12 years in 42 ties. Farah Dayoub made the most number of total wins who also has made the most doubles wins, has played most number of ties and has played for most number of years. Shaza Tinawi made the most number of singles wins. Sara Taweel shares the honor being part of the best doubles team with Farah Dayoub. Syria has won only six ties up to 2006. The best performance so far is it’s reaching third in Group 2 in the year 2005.Syria at the 2002 Federation Cup played 4 round robin ties in the Asia/Oceania Group 2.

Syria at the 2002 Federation Cup played a total of four ties in the Asia/Oceania Group 2 and lost in all of them. In the first tie of Asia/Oceania Group 2 round robin for Syria the opponent was Pacific Oceania. Pacific Oceania made a clean win. Syria lost the tie 0-3. The second tie for Syria at the 2002 Fed Cup brought Singapore in the opposition. Singapore too gave the same hard blow to Syria. Syria faced again a total loss of 0-3. This total loss continued in the next two ties when it played with Malaysia and Kazakhstan. The ties were conducted at Guangzhou from 04 to 07 March 2002.

The performance of Syria at the 2002 Federation Cup was disastrous. It did not even win single match, leave alone winning a tie. It did not compete in the 2003 Fed Cup. Because of its poor performance it did not get any promotion to higher level playing fields. It would compete from the same Asia/Oceania Group 2 in the next Fed Cup.
