Singapore at the 2002 Federation Cup was in the Asia/ Oceania zone group II along with the teams like Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pacific Oceania and Syria.
In the first round robin match against Malaysia Singapore was defeated very easily as Malaysia gave no chance at all to Singapore to came back in that match. The score of that match was 3:0 in favor of Malaysia. In the second round robin match against Syria Singapore played really well to gain some confidence back as they defeated Syria in that match by the score of 3:0. But this win did not help Singapore as they lost their next two outings with Kazakhstan and Pacific Oceania. In both the matches Singapore got defeated easily as they struggled in both the matches. Kazakhstan and Pacific Oceania won the match by the score of 3:0. This performance had no effect on Singapore’s placing as they regained its group II spot for the 2003 Fed Cup.
