Sports Of World Provides Federation Cup Tennis Information                         Sports Of World Provides Federation Tennis Information
Introduction

Norway at the 2002 Federation Cup played their ties from the Group II of the Europe/Asia zone; the Norway team had been in the competition since its beginning in 1963. The best performance of the Norway had been on two occasions one was in 1972 and the other was in the 1974 competition on both of these occasions the team had reached in the round of 16.

Performance of Norway at the 2002 Federation Cup

The performance of Norway at the 2002 Federation Cup started on 10th April and continued till the 12th April, all the ties of the team were played in South Africa on the outdoor hard court.

In the first tie the team played against the team of Malta which was not as strong as the Norway team but the competition between the two teams was tough and in end the Norwegian team won the round by 2-1. The next tie of the team was against the team of Great Britain which proved too hard to contest for the team of Norway and the team ended the round by a score of 0-3 which was a complete wipeout for the team. The Norwegian team then took on the team of Algeria, the teams had a great contest but the team of Norway could not put in all their efforts to win only one match. The team of Norway could have overcome the team of Algeria had it been able to score two more wins but that unfortunately did not happen. The Norwegian team could win only one tie in the competition which was very insufficient score to advance further in the competition.

Here’s a summary of the performance of Norway at the 2002 Federation Cup

Norway at the 2002 Federation Cup could not play according their capacity and it was underperformance of the team in the two ties it lost. The team could not progress further in the competition and had to remain in their group to contest the Round Robin ties in the next year’s Federation Cup Competition.
