El Salvador played five Round Robin matches. For all the matches, the host was Cuba and the surface was Hard – Outdoor. On 14 May 2002, the match was against Bermuda. El Salvador defeated Bermuda by a score of 3-0. On 15 May 2002, the match was against Chile. El Salvador defeated Chile by a score of 3-0. On 16 May 2002, the match was against Bolivia. El Salvador was defeated by Bolivia by a score of 1-2. On 17 May 2002, the match was against Dominican Republic. El Salvador defeated Dominican Republic by a score of 3-0. On 18 May 2002, the match was against Panama. El Salvador defeated Panama by a score of 3-0. El Salvador was promoted to Group I in the 2003 Federation Cup.
El Salvador at the 2002 Federation Cup played very impressively. Out of the five Round Robin matches, it won four matches. All the matches were clean sweeps of all the three matches. It was a very brilliant display of tennis by the team. For such a splendid performance, the country got a promotion to a higher group.
