Brazil at the 2002 Federation Cup

Brazil made its first appearance in these Federation Cup tournaments in the year 1965 and this year is supposed to be Brazil’s best Federation Cup show. In the year 1981Brazil was placed in the World Group and played against Czechoslovakia, Spain, Yugoslavia, Philippines, Germany and Ireland. Brazil reached the final in the year 1981 which was played at the Japanese clay court. The performance of Brazil in the year 1978 was not satisfactory as it was defeated in the first round itself against Germany F.R.The performance of Brazil in the first round of the year 1977 was remarkable since Brazil defeated Chinese Taipei by winning all the three matches out of the total five played. Brazil at the 2002 Federation cup played the round robins against Venezuela, Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia.

Brazil at the 2002 Federation Cup played the round robins at the Mexico hard court. They were placed in the American Zone Group II B.The round robins played against Venezeula, Brazil defeated Venezuela with a score of 3-0 in the first round robin. The second round robin played against Uruaguay,Brazil was defeated by the Uruguay with a marginal score of 1-2.Brazil was one again defeated in the third and the fourth round robin played against theParaguay and Colombia with a score of 1-2.

Brazil at the 2002 Federation cup displayed a hopeless performance. Out of the total four round robins played they won only one round robin which was played against Venezuela.
