Botswana at the 2002 Federation Cup

The Federation Cup is known for its best in women’s tennis. It has served as an equivalent tournament as that of men’s Davis Cup. It is managed by the International Tennis Federation. The various participating countries played in the qualifying stage against themselves, resulting from which the entrants to the World group stage were decided. The 2002 championship was the 40th edition of the Federation Cup. Botswana started its international tennis career in 1995. A total of 83 nations participated in the tournament. Botswana at the 2002 Federation Cup was one of the average teams.

Botswana at the 2002 Federation Cup was placed in the Group II of the Europe/Africa zone. In the first round robin match against Ireland, Botswana lost the contest by a margin of 0-3. Next, Botswana was the looser against Egypt by 0-3 in the second round robin match. The third qualifier again resulted in Botswana loosing to Finland by 0-3. Also, Botswana could not rise from its dismay and lost the next clash against Latvia by 0-3. Therefore, Botswana was ousted from the 2002 Federation Cup owing to extremely hollow performance. vvv

Botswana lost all its matches against Ireland, Egypt, Finland and Latvia by a huge margin of 0-3 each. Thus Botswana could not face the attacks of the other seasoned teams and lacked significant experience and thus was ousted from the 2002 Federation Cup.
