Sports Of World Provides Federation Cup Tennis Information                         Sports Of World Provides Federation Tennis Information
Introduction

The Federation Cup started in 1963 so as to mark the anniversary of its managing organization. It is managed by the International Tennis Federation. It began as a championship between United States and Great Britain. The various participating countries played in the qualifying stage against themselves, resulting from which the entrants to the World group stage were decided. The 2002 championship was the 40th edition of the Federation Cup. Bosnia/Herzegovina started its international tennis career in 1997. A total of 83 nations participated in the tournament. Bosnia/Herzegovina at the 2002 Federation Cup was one of the early ousted teams.

Performance of Bosnia at the 2002 Federation Cup

Bosnia/Herzegovina at the 2002 Federation Cup was placed in the Group I of the Europe/Africa zone. In the first round robin match against Netherlands, Bosnia/Herzegovina lost the contest by a huge margin of 0-3. Next, Bosnia/Herzegovina was again the looser against Israel by 0-3 in the second round robin match. The third qualifier again resulted in the Bosnia/Herzegovina’s shameful defeat to Romania by 0-3. Therefore the consistency of performance was zero as they lost all the matches by a huge margin. This led to the end of their quest.

Here’s a summary of the performance of Bosnia at the 2002 Federation Cup

Bosnia/Herzegovina at the 2002 Federation Cup was placed in the Group I of the Europe/Africa zone with other nations like Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Portugal and Turkey. Bosnia/Herzegovina was extremely poor and downtrodden as far as its level of play was concerned in such an International event. Bosnia/Herzegovina lost all its matches against Netherlands, Israel and Romania in the qualifiers by 0-3 scores each. They failed miserably to even give a decent ending to their defeat. Thus, loosing all the qualifying round matches led to the relegation of Group II at the 2003 Federation Cup.
