Uruguay first entered the Fed Cup in 1972. It has played for 26 years. In these 26 years it has competed in total 96 ties. Claudia Brause made the Most Total Wins (20-25) and the most doubles wins. She has been part of the best doubles team. She has played the maximum number of ties and has played for maximum number of years in the Davis Cup from Uruguay in Fed Cup. Dominican Republic fell at the hands of Uruguay 2-1 in the third tie. The fourth tie was against Venezuela. Venezuela proved stronger by defeating Uruguay with a total win. This is the second total loss for Uruguay at the 2001 Fed Cup. All these ties were held on Clay Outdoors court in Uruguay from 24 to 27 April.
