Introduction

Spain began to play in the Fed Cup in the year 1972. It completed 36 years of Fed Cup participation playing 108 ties. Arantxa Sanches Vicario made the total number of total wins and has won the most number of singles wins and doubles wins. She has participated in Fed Cup from Spain for the most number of years and has played most number of ties. She is also part of the best doubles team along with Conchita Martinez. Spain has won the Fed Cup trophy five times and lies equal third with Czech Republic for most Fed Cup titles. Three of its Fed Cup win came in a row from 1993 to 1995. Spain at the 2001 Federation Cup played in the World Group pool B round robin ties.

Spain at the 2001 Federation Cup entered from the World Group pool B round robin and played three ties. In the first tie Spain defeated Australia and made a total win 3-0. The second tie of World Group pool B round robin for Spain was against Germany. Germany too gave in at the strong hands of Spain. Spain won two matches losing one to Germany. The third tie for Spain in World Group pool B round robin brought Belgium face to face. Belgium had an upper hand in this tie as it swept all the three ties in its favor. Spain lost all the matches of this tie. All these ties were hosted by Spain from 07 to 09 November.
