Performance of Singapore at the 2001 Federation Cup
Singapore at the 2001 Federation Cup played two Round Robin ties and two play-offs, and all the ties were carried out in Taiwan on the outdoor hard court. The ties were scheduled from 10th April to 13th April; in their first tie the Singapore team played against the team of Fiji and after some struggle won the tie by 2-1. In their second tie the Singapore team played against the team of Hong Kong China and the team’s struggle in the tie was much harder, the Singapore team failed the tie very drastically by a score of 0-3. The Singapore team then had to play in the first tie of the play-offs and in this tie the rival team of Singapore was the team of Philippines which had played a great game in the last year’s competition. The Singapore team could not stand the performance of the Philippines team and lost the tie by a great difference of 0-3. The Singapore team then played in the final tie of the play-offs and the rival team was the team of Malaysia, the Singapore team again failed the round miserably and lost the final tie as well by 0-3 and ended their nightmare in the competition.
