Performance of Romania at the 2001 Federation Cup
Romania at the 2001 Federation Cup contested four Round Robin ties out of which three were played in Spain on the outdoor clay surface and the last tie was played in Turkey on the same surface of the last three rounds. The ties were scheduled from 24th April to 27th April. The first tie of the team was played against the team of Belarus in which despite the best efforts of the team it lost the tie by a score of 1-2. The Romanian team played their second tie against the team of Great Britain and the teams put in all their energy and skill but the Romanian team held their game high and won the tie by a score of 2-1 and registered their first victory in the competition. In the third tie the Romanian team met with the team of Sweden which was not at all easy to take on there was a great tussle between the two teams but the Romanian team could not clinch the tie and lost it by 1-2. In the fourth and the last tie the Romanian team took on the challenge of the Israel team and the team again had to fight with all their skills and athleticism but despite that the team lost it by 1-2.
