The performance of Puerto Rico at the 2001 Federation Cup began on the 15th May and went on till the 19th May and the ties of the team were contested in Antigua on the outdoor hard surface. The Puerto Rico team had to play four Round Robin ties and the first tie was contested against the team of Bolivia in which the Puerto Rico team clinched victory by a score of 3-0 and thus the team’s start was a good one in the competition. The second tie of the team was played against the team of Jamaica and the Jamaican team could do nothing against the Puerto Rican team except yielding to them completely, the Puerto Rican team won their second round as well by the score of 3-0 again. The team then entered in the third round against Cuba and the Cuban team tried to put a spanner in the performance of the Puerto Rican team but their struggle ended in the victory of the rival team by a score of 2-1. The Puerto Rican team thus registered their hat trick in the competition and then took on the team of the Bahamas in the fourth tie. The Bahamas team also had to bow down before the Puerto Rican team and the round went in favor of the Puerto Rica team by a score of 2-0.
