Moldova at the 2001 Federation Cup was one of the average teams.

Performance of Moldova at the 2001 Federation Cup

Moldova at the 2001 Federation Cup was placed in the Group II of the Europe/Africa zone. In the first round robin match against Turkey, Moldova lost by 0-3. The next match featured Moldova winning over Botswana by 2-1. The third round robin contest also yielded Moldova as the winner over Tunisia by 3-0. Eventually, Moldova lost its last qualifier to Lithuania by 0-3. Thus Moldova was ousted from the 2001 Federation Cup owing to irregular victories.

Here’s a summary of the performance of Moldova at the 2001 Federation Cup

Moldova at the 2001 Federation Cup was placed in the Group II of the Europe/Africa zone with some of the other countries like Algeria, Armenia, Botswana, Egypt, Latvia, Lesotho, Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia and Portugal. The performance of Moldova was inconsistent. Moldova won only two matches against Botswana and Tunisia. The remaining matches were lost to Turkey and Lithuania. The level of performance was also very weak and feeble. This led Moldova to loose their credibility as a new face in the international squad and thus was ousted from the 2001 Federation Cup.
