Mexico at the 2001 Federation Cup played their four Round Robin ties and all the ties were organized in Uruguay on the outdoor clay surface. The ties were held from 23rd April to 26th April and the team’s first encounter was against the team of the Dominican Republic whom the Mexican team had to take on with some struggle but in the end the Mexican team won their first tie by a score of 2-1. The second tie of the Mexican team was against the team of Venezuela and in this tie both the teams struggled against each other to win but the Mexican team’s performance outdid the performance of the Venezuelan team and the team won the round by 2-1. In their third tie the Mexican team took on the challenge of the Uruguay team which turned out to be very easy for the team and the Mexican team won it by 3-0 and thus registered their third victory in the four ties. In the fourth and the last the tie the Mexican team played against the team of Colombia and there was more struggle for the Mexican team in their last tie. The Mexican team at end lost the tie by a difference of just one match and the score stood at 2-1 for the Mexican team. The Mexican team thus fell short of just one rubber from entering in the next level on the competition.
