Performance of Jamaica at the 2001 Federation Cup
Jamaica at the 2001 Federation Cup was in the American zone group II along with the teams like Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago. Jamaica lost both their round robin matches to Bolivia and Puerto Rico, in the first match after losing both its singles matches Jamaica did try hard enough to win the doubles match but it was not sufficient because they had already lost the match. Bolivia defeated Jamaica by the score of 2:1. In the match against Puerto Rico Jamaica had no chance at all as they were defeated by the score of 3:0. Because of losing in the round robin Jamaica had to play for the 9th to 12th position in the play-off round. In the first match against Trinidad & Tobago Jamaica had a great time as they defeated Trinidad & Tobago by the score of 2:0. Then in the last match against El Salvador Jamaica did play really well, they won the first singles, but went on to lose the second singles. After this result Jamaica remained in the same group II for the 2002 Fed Cup.
