Introduction

The Federation Cup was launched on the precious moment of the 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Federation in 1963. The Federation Cup was shortened to the Fed Cup in 1995 Federation Cup with some new rules in the game. The United States registered them as the most successful nation in the Federation Cup, winning 17 titles so far. The 2001 Federation Cup was held for the 39th time with a total of 90 nations participation. Belgium emerged as the leader in the event winning their First Federation Cup title. Egypt made its debut in 1986 Federation Cup. Egypt at the 2001 Federation Cup played from Europe/Africa zone group II C. Egypt has never advance above group II in the Federation Cup till date.

Egypt at the 2001 Federation Cup competed through Europe/Africa zone group II C. Egypt went through the robin rounds and lost its first round to Bosnia/Herzegovina with a plain score of 0-3. Egypt made a strong comeback and won all the matches of the robin rounds. Egypt defeated Armenia by 2-1 and Lesotho and Kenya by an outstanding score of 3-0.

Egypt at the 2001 Federation Cup made a satisfactory performance throughout the tournament. Loosing its first match against Bosnia/Herzegovina, Egypt managed successfully to makeup the loss by winning the rest of the matches. Egypt proved their potential for the game by defeating Armenia, Lesotho and Kenya. Overall, Egypt was successful in their winning strategies even after loosing their first match. The team was under the captainship of Mr. Khaled Farouk.
