Introduction

The Federation Cupis the foremost team competition in women’s tennis. The event is equivalent to the Davis Cup of men’s tennis. The Federation Cup was held in 1963 at the Queen’s Club and the first battle was set between Australia and the United States. The International Tennis Federation administers and looks after the whole process of the Federation Cup. Ecuador made its striking debut in 1972 Federation Cup where the team managed to reach the quarter finals of the World group. Ecuador lost its first battle against Canada by a mere score of 0-3. The score line did not change for the rest of the robin rounds. Subsequently, Ecuador came across great losses from Brazil and Paraguay with the same loosing score of 0-3 from each team.
