The Federation Cup came into existence after the 40 long years of wait from the time of its initialization. The first Federation Cup was organized on the 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Federation in 1963. The 2001 Federation Cup was the year when the huge World group was divided into two pools consisting of eight teams in each pool. Dominican Republic was placed against the Venezuela team for the robin round. Venezuela easily departed the Dominican Republic team with a plain score of 0-3. Even in the second robin round, Dominican Republic failed to achieve the victory and lost the match to Uruguay by 1-2. In the last robin round, Colombia showed the way back to home to Dominican Republic, winning the round by plain 0-3.
