Introduction

The Federation Cup was initiated by Hazel Wightman while Nell Hopman added the efforts to bring the initiation to reality. The International Tennis Federation gave the approval to move ahead and the Federation Cup came into existence in 1963. The Federation Cup was shortened to the Fed Cup in 1995 with some amendments in the game. Denmark was one of the 16 teams participating in the very first year of the Federation Cup. Denmark at the 2001 Federation Cup was one of the 90 teams competing to achieve this glorious trophy. Denmark’s best performance was seen in 1976 & 1988 Federation Cup when the team played World group quarter finals.
