Introduction

The Federation Cup is an ace tournament in women tennis played world wide. It is the most popular and prestigious yearly event played on the varied international venues during the course of one week. The participation rose from 16 nations to 73 teams by the year 1976. The trophy was christened as the Fed Cup in the year 1995. Barbados could not any win in its first 18 Fed Cup ties. However Barbados recorded wins of two ties in the years 1998 and 1999 and finishing in joint fifth in the Americas Group II, in the latter events. This may be regarded as its best performance.
