Introduction

The Fed Cup was started in the year 1963 by the International Tennis Federation on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The 2000 Fed Cup was the 38th edition of the most significant sporting events in the history of the women’s tennis. There were record number of 100 teams which participated in this competition and Singapore at the 2000 Fed Cup was one of them. Singapore started its Fed Cup career since 1989 and this is their ninth appearance in this competition.

Performance of Singapore at the 2000 Federation Cup

Singapore at the 2000 Fed Cup was in the Asia/Oceania zone group I along with the teams like India, China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Japan and South Korea.

Singapore had one of its worst performances in the tournament as they were unable to register a single win and also they could not win a single game in all the matches they played.

They lost to China in the second round robin match by the score of 2:0. And in the other matches against Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, South Korea and Indonesia they lost by the score of 3:0.

After this outrageous performance Singapore were demoted to the group II for the 2001 Fed Cup.

Here’s a summary of the performance of Singapore at the 2000 Federation Cup

TThe overall performance of Singapore at the 2000 Fed Cup was terrible as they were not able to win at least a single game in the tournament. They were not playing up to their task in any of their matches and also lack of confidence did cost them suck a heavy price. It was a discreditable effort by Singapore as we see the result at the end of the competition.
