Korea at the 2000 Federation Cup

Korea, Rep. at the 2000 Fed Cup took part in the Fed Cup for the first time in 1973. Under the old format, the country reached the round of sixteen, five times. In 1996, the country won a World Group II play-off and qualified for that level in 1997.

Korea, Rep. at the 2000 Fed Cup took part in Group I of the Asia / Oceania Zone. The other countries in this zone were China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand. Korea, Rep. played five Round Robin matches.

For all the matches, the host was Japan and the surface was Hard – Outdoor. On 25 April 2000, the match was against China, P.R. Korea, Rep. was defeated by China, P.R. by a score of 1-2. On 26 April 2000, the match was against Indonesia. Korea, Rep. defeated Indonesia by a score of 0-2.

On 27 April 2000, the match was against Chinese Taipei. Korea, Rep, defeated Chinese Taipei by a score of 1-2. On 28 April 2000, the match was against Singapore. Korea, Rep. defeated Singapore by a score of 3-0. On 29 April 2000, the match was against New Zealand. Korea, Rep. defeated New Zealand by a score of 3-0..

Korea, Rep. at the 2000 Fed Cup gave a disappointing performance. Out of the five Round Robin matches, the country lost the initial three matches and won the final two matches. Considering the long association of the country with the Fed Cup, the performance was very unsatisfactory and unconvincing.
