Japan has been a veteran team in the Fed Cup league as it began playing in the year 1964. Japan at the 2000 Fed Cup played as a demoted team in the Asia/Oceania Group I. In the year 1999 it was one of the World Group 2 team. Nevertheless, the performance was noteworthy and Japan did shine out as it seemed that the players were in the best of their forms.
