Hungary at the 2000 Fed Cup. played as a team in the Europe/Africa Zone. Hungary has comparatively done well as a team throughout their reign in the Fed Cup. The Magyar Tenisz Szovetseg is the governing committee that looks after all the Fed Cup affairs of Hungary. Hungary joined the Fed Cup league in the year 1963 and since then has played in a committed manner. Hungary had managed to reach the Fed Cup quarterfinals in two years that were 1963 and 1985.

Hungary at the 2000 Fed Cup performed extremely well and in the first Round Robin faced Latvia in the Group I matches. They overpowered Latvia in all three matches and won with a score-line of 3-0. Next in line was Greece, whom Hungary efficiently defeated with a swipe-off score of 3-0.

The going was great until they met South Africa in the third Round Robin where they fortunately swept off the match with a narrow escape and the score –board for this match was 2-1.

The first round of Group I play-off match was contested between Hungary and Belarus. Hungary crushed the opponent’s spirit as they registered a clear victory with a score of 2-0. The final feat was won when they defeated Netherlands with a wash-out score of 2-0 and secured themselves a position in the World Group for the year 2001.

Hungary at the 2000 Fed Cup played extremely well and surely earned accolades. It was the once again after 1992 that they won a place in the World Group for the year 2001. Hungary had invested a lot of commitment and efforts and did manage to put up a fairly good show in front of all tennis lovers. Their spirit was unmatched and Hungary’s overall performance at the 2000 Fed Cup was terrific.
