Greece at the 2000 Federation Cup

It was in the year 1968 when Greece made the first time entry into this Fed Cup tournments.In the years 1977 and 1984 Greece advanced to the World Group. The youngest player in the Fed Cup was Denise Panagopoulos of Greece who faced the Portugal team in the year 1977 won the matches played against Portugal. Until the year 1991 Greece played under the World Group, World Group Qualifying rounds and World Group Consolation Rounds. It was from the year 1992 it was placed under the Euro/Africa/Group I (B, E, A, D)The round robins played in the year 1999 against Romania and Sweden, Greece lost to Romania and Greece and won against Portugal in the third round robin.

Greece at the 2000 Fed Cup was one of the participants and played these matches at the clay court of Spain.

Greece at the 2000 Fed Cup played the opening matches against South Africa. Greece was placed in the Europe/Africa Zone. All the matches played were the round robins.

The first round robins, South Africa defeated Greece with a score of 1-2.Hungary defeated Greece without allowing the Greece players to win a single match played between them with a score of 0-3 in the second round robin.

Latvia was defeated by the Greece players with a score of 3-0 in the third round robin.

Greece at the 2000 Fed Cup was defeated in the round robins played against South Africa and Hungary. Latvia was defeated by the Greece players. The performance of Greece was satisfactory as it lost to South Africa and Hungary.
