Great Britain at the 2000 Federation Cup

Great Britain entered these women’s tennis tournaments in the very first year of the beginning of the Federation Cup tournaments in the year 1963. Great Britainhas been successful in reaching the finals of the Federation Cup four times. Britain reached the finals in the year 1981 played against U.S.A but faced a defeat. The Great Britain team played under the World Group. During the year 1963 Great Britain played against Canada, Austria and U.S.A.In the final match played in the year 1963 against U.S.A, Great Britain was defeated by the Americans. In the yea 1992 Great Britain reached the Quarterfinals but lost to Great Britain. Great Britain at the 2000 Federation Cup was placed in the Europe/Africa Zone.

Great Britain at the 2000 Federation cup played their opening match against Ukraine and it was the first round robin which they played. Great Britain defeated Ukraine with a score of 2-1.Finland was defeated by the Great Britain with a score of 2-1 in the second round robin. Israel defeated the powerful players of Great Britain in the third round robin with a score of 1-2. Luxembourg was also successful in defeating the Great Britain with a score of 1-2 in the fourth round robin.

Great Britain at the 2000 Federation cup displayed a mixed performance of both good and satisfactory performances. In the first two round robins played against Ukraine and Finland, Great Britain defeated both the Ukraine and Finland teams. Luxembourg and Israel defeated the Great Britain in the last two round robins played.
