France at the 2000 Federation Cup

The 2000 Federation Cup was the 38th edition of the most interesting sporting events in the history of the women’s tennis. In this tournament there were about 100 teams which participated and France at the 2000 Federation Cup was one of them. France began its campaign in this tournament since this Fed Cup was started in 1963. They have emerged winners in the year 1997 when they defeated Netherlands in the finals by the score of 4:1. France was the fourth team to compete in all the Federation Cups since it was started.

Finland at the 2000 Federation cup played the round robins at the Spain clay court. Finland was placed in the Europe/Africa Group D. The first round robin was played against Israel, Finland was defeated by the Israel with a snore of 0-3. Finland was defeated by the Great Britain with a marginal score of 1-2 in the second round robin. Luxembourg defeated Finland with a score of 0-3 in the third round robin. Finally, in the last round robin, Ukraine defeated Finland with a score of 0-3 in the fourth round robin.

The overall performance of France at the 2000 Federation Cup was satisfactory in the sense that they were not relegated from the world group but they would play in the play-off in the next year’s competition. After wining its first two matches they were not able to get a victory in the last match against Belgium and therefore they did not get a chance to play in the world group.
