Estonia at the 2000 Federation Cup

The Federation Cup tournaments began in the year 1963 and this is the Women’s tennis tournaments and these competitions are exclusively held for women. Estonia participated in these tournaments in the year 1992.Earlier Estonia players participated in these tournaments from the Soviet Union. During its first year, Estonia played the round robins against the nations Ireland, South Africa and Luxembourg. Estonia won two matches out of totally three matches played against Luxembourg. It was defeated in the round robins played against Ireland and South Africa.

Estonia at the 2000 Federation Cup was placed in the Europe/Africa Group II D.

Estonia at the 2000 Federation cup showed their excellent tennis skills in the round robins played against Moldova, Lesotho, Algeria, Madagascar and Portugal. These round robins were played at the clay court Portugal. Moldova, Lesotho, Algeria, Madagascar were all defeated by the Estonia players. The first round robin played against Moldava, Estonia defeated Moldova with a score of 2-1.Lesotho was defeated by the Estonia players with a score of 3-0 in the second round robin. Algeria was defeated by the Estonia team with a score of 3-0 in the third round robin. Madagascar was defeated by the Estonia players with a score of 3-0 in the fourth round robin. Finally in the fifth round robin, Estonia defeated by the Portugal players with a score of 1-0.

Estonia at the 2000 Federation cup played against Moldova in their opening match. Estonia’s performance was excellent in all the round robins played. Estonia won all the matches played against Lesotho, Algeria and Madagascar.
