Chile at the 2000 Federation Cup

Chile at the 2000 Federation Cup took part from the Group I of the American zone and the debut performance of the Chilean team in the competition was in the year 1968. The Chilean team in the 1978 competition had entered in the round of 16 and the team also had played in the world group play-offs in the 1996 competition. Thus the Chilean team had a very sound record in the Federation Cup competition.

The performance of Chile at the 2000 Federation Cup started from 25th April and was over by the 28th April.

All the four Round Robin ties of the team were conducted in Brazil on the outdoor clay surface.In the first round the Chilean team met with the team of Canada and was mercilessly beaten by a score of 0-3. The Chilean team played against the team of Uruguay in their second tie and the team again had to see the face of defeat and lost the round by a great margin, the team could not win a single match and the score in the round was 0-3 for the Chilean team. In the third round the Chilean team fought against the team of Brazil which again proved the team’s disorganized performance and the will to win, the Chilean team lost their third round as well by the score of 0-3 again. The team of Venezuela then met the Chilean team in the fourth round and the Chilean team’s performance had already hit lowest in the competition and the 4th round proved no different for the team, the Chilean team lost the round by 0-3 for the 4th time in the competition.

Chile at the 2000 Federation Cup had given their worst performance in the competition; the team not lost all their ties but also lost them by a huge difference one after another. It was really a very shameful performance by the Chilean team in the competition.
