The Federation Cup is one of the most coveted women’s tennis tournaments being played annually. It is played between teams fielded by different nations and not individual players. The 2000 Federation Cup was the 38th edition of the tournament. Altogether there were 100 nations participating in this tournament. Bolivia at the 2000 Federation Cup participated from Group II of America’s Zone. They made their maiden appearance in the year 1991. They had a good run in the last tournament as they reached the semi final round of their group.They raised great hopes for better performance in this tournament.Thus they remained in the same group as they were in the last tournament.

Bolivia at the 2000 Federation Cup won the playoff for the third and fourth position of their group. Their first round robin league tie was against El Salvador. They won the clash against El Salvador by a margin of 2-1. Their next clash was against Costa Rica. They maintained their winning streak against Costa Rica as well to reach the first round of the playoff for the fourth position. They were pitted against Ecuador in this round. However they had to face defeat in this tie. They lost the clash by a margin of 0-3. They were then pitted against Puerto Rico in the playoff for the third and fifth place. They won this tie by a margin of 3-0.

However could not maintain their performance in the knock out stage. They slipped down to the third position of their group. Thus failed to earn any promotion of the groups.
