Introduction

The Federation Cup was the most important championship in women's tennis between the national teams. The 32nd edition of this cup was the 1994 Federation Cup. Overall, 73 countries took part in this championship. The World Group was held from 18 to 24 July. The venue was Walstadion Tennis Club in Frankfurt, Germany. The courts were clay courts.

In the 1994 Federation Cup, from the American Zone, Chile, Cuba and Paraguay advanced to the World Group. From the Asia / Oceania Zone, Chinese Taipei advanced to the World Group. From the Europe / Africa Zone, Austria, Belarus, Belgium and Slovakia advanced to the World Group. In the World Group, those teams who lost in the first round were relegated to Group I in 1995 and those which lost in the second round formed World Group II in 1995.

The United States defeated Canada by a score of 3-0. In the quarter finals, Spain defeated Japan by a score of 3-0. Germany defeated South Africa by a score of 3-0. France defeated Bulgaria by a score of 2-1. The United States defeated Austria by a score of 3-0. In the semi finals, Spain defeated Germany by a score of 2-1 and the United States defeated France by a score of 3-0. In the final, Spain defeated the United States by a score of 3-0. This was the third time Spain won this cup.
