Introduction

The Federation Cup was launched by the International Tennis Federation in the year 1963, which coincidentally marks its fifty years of origination. It is an ace tournament on the international galore having an all women tennis talents entry. In the initial year there were 16 teams which significantly went up to include 73 international teams by the year 1976. The initial trophy launched by ITF carried the name Federation Cup, got renamed as the Federation Cup in 1995. The Federation Cup remains a unique event of sorts which provides an opportunity to the women tennis aspirants' universal pedestal to explore their talents.

 

It has seen the tennis superstars like Billie Jean King, Margaret Smith and Lesley Turner's stature on the court. They have emerged the glorified Grand Slam victors. The original plan was thought after by the tennis loving personality Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman. The self-initiative by other great women in Nell Hopman and Mary Hardwick saw the Hazel's plan enter into realism. Lithuania at the 1994 Federation Cup played from Euro/African Zone Group III.

Lithuania at the 1994 Federation Cup was a Euro/African Zone Group player. They were sketched out two Robin Rounds opposite Slovak Republic and Greece. The next round opposite Greece however saw some narrow fight by Lithuania, which offered them one set. In the end they lost it to Greece by 1-2.

In the subsequent event they offered little resistance to pick up a set and settle the loss by 1-2 opposite Greece.
