Introduction

Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman a tennis lover is acclaimed for floating the initial Federation Cup plan in the year 1919. However her idea was given the appropriate response in its original form, she went on to introduce trophy on her own. The subsequent persistent efforts on the part of Nell Hopman and Mary Hardwick Hare made Hazel's plan enter into realism. It was inaugurated by the International Tennis Federation to mark its golden jubilee celebration in the year 1963. In which they expanded the Federation Cup horizons to allow the larger participation. Initial participation of 16 countries, later on assumed iconic proportions to accommodate as many as 73 national teams by the year 1976.

 

The initial trophy launched by ITF carried the name Federation Cup, which was renamed as the Federation Cup in 1995. The Federation Cup cherishes presence all time tennis greats of the mantle Billie Jean King, Darlene Hard, Margaret Smith and Lesley Turner on the court, who toned the Grand Slams. India at the 1994 Federation Cup was an American Zone Group player. India has played to its potential talents to reach the Fed Cup quarterfinals in 1963 and 1985.

India at the 1994 Federation Cup was an Asia/Oceania Zone Group player. It began its Fed Cup events with the first Round Robin opposite Chinese Taipei, wherein the Chinese Taipei defeated India. India went on for the further fight opposite Philippineswhich again it lost by the same earlier score of 1-2. In the last Round Robin that India played in front of Syria, India emerged winner by 3-0. India concluded its game file with the only win in the current tournament.

India at the 1994 Federation Cup listed its team from Asia/Oceania Zone Group. India got an opportunity to play three Round Robins in the tournaments. In the first ever round opposite Chinese Taipei, India lost to Chinese Taipei by 1-2. In the second Round Robin, there was performance repeat from India; they went down by Philippines by 1-2 only. In the final Round Robin, India picked up its talents to register the win over Syria by 3-0.
